The Palacio Real or Royal Palace is the largest and certainly one of the most impressive palaces in Europe. Locals young and old flock the parks around the palace grounds to hang with friends.
The Plaza Mayor, a grand arcaded square in the center of Madrid. During the middle ages the site was just a market place outside the city walls. In the 1560s, King Philip II turned the market place into a real square. It’s right next door to Mercado de San Miguel, a good place for tapas & drinks after an evening walk.
