Otaru is a small town about 30 mins from Sapporo. They hold their annual Lantern festival at the same time as Sapporo’s Snow festival. Most visitors take an evening trip to view the great lights.
The town is situated right by the sea and brought a different type of cold, almost wet and bone chilling. Therefore, a few hours outdoor was plenty.
