Live animals and long lens

During our pre-travel packing, the dilemma was whether or not to bring the Canon 70-200mm F4L IS lens.  It’s a zoom/telephoto great for portraits and details images.  The past month, the wide angels (17-40mm F4L & 24-70mm F4L IS) and prime (50mm F1.4) lens got more use given the landscapes and monuments that surrounds us.

It was great to bring out our zoom 70-200mm F4L for the zoo visit.  It certainly comes in handy when the birds are in the air and leopards kept at a distance.  The leopard image was taken at full zoom 200mm to capture the finer details.

We hope to gain more practice prior to a real African Safari one day.
