We took a day trip from Florence to Cinque Terre. It’s a 1.5 hours drive with a small minivan of 8 people. The 5 towns is quite remote without any direct trains from major cities. Once in the city, boats and single track train are used to go between the villages. Popular site for hiking given it’s considered a national park and preseved under UNESCO Heritage.
During the week of rain in the region, we were lucky to get sunshine that day. Cinque Terre closes for winter as it’s not so safe to visit or reside with rock & mud slide risks. The residents will head to nearby towns as their winter homes.
