Pastel de Nata (Portuguese egg tarts) are like macarons to France. There is one original shop Pastéis de Belém, they make very good Portuguese egg tarts. The difference between our asian egg tarts vs Pastel de Nata is the crust and burnt topping. The crust is very flaky. Almost like layers of egg roll wrappers with a creme brulee burnt top. Yum!
