We ❤️ Tokyo and very safe to say our favourite to visit. This is what we tell others when asked about Tokyo. Frommers did a good job describing this megalopolis and all the reason why we love it too. Our first visit a few years ago was a sensory overload and now we feed from Tokyo’s intensity.
The lights, crowds, high energy, awesome food (not just Japanese), efficiency, and cleaniness are all what makes Tokyo awesome. It amazes us that one of the most populated city can also live in harmony as they were recently named the safest city in the world.
We spent the first week of January in Tokyo, this means winter!! We had the luxury to enjoy moderate and warm weather throughout the first half of our journey. We purchase items as needed so winter wear shopping was a priority since temps were hovering around 7C from 30C in Manila. Thanks to New Year’s sale throughout Japan as a tradition, it made for some great finds.
And lots of sightseeing of course, it’s a never ending list of things to do since Tokyo has many prefectures/downtowns.

Multi colour sunset and glimpse of Mount Fuji. No fillters and straight from camera to show the crazy hues of orange, red and blue.

Street photography at the Shrine – we waited for an interesting subject to walk through the glowing gates

Japan’s New Year’s lucky mystery bags for sale. Merchants offer lucky gift bags for a fixed price and values of goods inside are often higher but you just don’t know what is inside 🙂

Famous Golden Gai in Shinjuku – over 200 mini shanty style bars in 6 small streets.

Desserts & Confectioneries are the finest in Tokyo and Japan. They know how to make sweets for sure.
