Florence – Heart of Renaissance

After our time in Rome, we stepped into Florence of the Tuscany region.  It’s a beautiful romantic city with less cars, more walkable comparing to Rome.

The city is surrounded by many Renaissance artists and their legacy showcased  in the museums. The Uffizi Gallery which houses works by Michelangelo & Leonardo da Vinci, but the one that stands out for us is the painting of “Birth of Venus” who is the woman featured as part of the logo imagery for Adobe Illustrator for you design geeks 🙂

Ponte Vecchio, the oldest of Florence’s six bridges, is one of the city’s best known images. During our visit, there was a few rain storms. We climbed the Duomo Cupola tower and also to Piazzle Michaelangelo to capture the dramatic skies in some images. Florence is also home to the best Gelaterias, we tried them daily to find our favourite shop. Our advice is to stay away from the artificial touristy shops selling bright green pistachio and hot pink strawberry flavours.

The dome that covers the Duomo of Florence is known as Brunelleschi’s dome. When it was designed, it was the largest dome in the world.

Scaling Brunelleschi’s dome in Florence is a breath-taking experience because the view from the top is astonishing.
